Last couple weeks I was preparing some updates to the forum, which were finalized and went live today.

1. On the back-end, the forum software was updated to the latest stable version, including all the security patches.

This version is soon to be replaced with the newer, much improved one, which is in beta-stage now. Once the release candidate published, I’ll start working on preparing forum to the upgrade. However, it is still a few months in the future.

Also, in plans there’s an important feature — merging registrations so users could use same login for both site and forum. Now they are separate, so, please, try to avoid registering on the homepage (the only way to do it right now is while trying to leave comments to article), or if you do have to, use the same user name as in forum, so I could manually merge the accounts later on.

2. Obvious change — new visual template for the forum. Same basic layout, but different colour scheme, based on the main site’s theme giving it same look and feel. It still has some rough edges, and if you are experiencing any issues, post it here or drop a line to mailbox [at] footboise [dot] us.

As a fallback measure, there are two other styles available: “Lithium” (same as was before) and “Oxygen” (default blue-gray scheme for Pun/FluxBB). You can choose them via “Display” section of your profile.

Main site shall also undergo some visual touch up since the template there is really generic one, without any modifications. That‘s why it looks rough.

3. Guest posting is temporarily disabled until anti-spam modification undergoes bugfixing and provides proper support for guest posting.

4. Spanish language pack was added to the forum, and individual users can choose it in their profile essentials.

5. By request: link to the main site added to forum’s menu.
